Plot
The Planet Express staff heads to Wong Ranch on Mars for Mars Day barbecue. Amy Wong's parents love to see her, but are very unenthusiastic about her coworkers, especially Dr. Zoidberg, who immediately began to make a nuisance to himself. Kif arrives, and is nervous about meeting Amy's girlfriend's parents for the first time (though they've met before).
The barbecue results, with Amy's parents who really are not impressed with Kif. Everything went smoothly until a strange noise began, and a dust storm rolled in. Everyone is sheltering in Wong's house, but the unprotected buggalo outside rusts during a storm, damaging Wong.
Kif departs with the last remaining buggalo, Amy's private pets, Betsy, in an attempt to pull out the rustlers. Professor Farnsworth sent Fry, Leela, and Bender with him. When the group tells the ghost story, Amy jumps out of the bushes to join them. Kif and the crew find the stolen buggalo hidden in the crater of Olympus Mons when the ground shakes. They found a way to get the buggalo out of the crater, but when they returned to the farm, the same strange sound from barbecue began, and another dust storm swirled in.
While the crew is stuck in the middle of a storm, the rustlers fly over the buggalo. The rustlers are native Martians, who are angry because of the sale of their Marshal to one bead. The crew was surprised to learn that the buggalo can fly and the Martians show only those who really love the planet that can fly the buggalo. Martians also revealed that they had planned to destroy Wong by stealing buggalo; but with the chance to stare into their faces, they kidnap Amy. Kif and the crew return the buggalo to Wong Ranch. Initially Wong was very impressed with Kif, but another minor dust storm carries a ransom note.
The Wongs, more dissatisfied with Kif than before, summoned Zapp Brannigan to settle the situation. Brannigan, Kif, and the rest of the crew set out to confront Mars, one of the two entrances to a Mars reservation. Brannigan ruined the negotiations, and the Martians called another dust storm, which included Amy. Kif jumps behind Amy's buggalo and blows her into the whirlwind, restoring Amy. The Martians, impressed by Kif's ability to ride a buggalo, stop the storm and offer peace.
Unfortunately, when smoking a Mars peace pipe, Kif choked on smoke, angering the Martians. The Martians punished him for being destroyed by the beads they traded on the planet. As the bead drops from the ceiling, the crew finds that the "bead" is a giant diamond. When they told Martian's head of the value of the bead, the Martians canceled the execution, and left Mars to find a planet they could buy. The Wong does not believe Kif rescues Amy, and credits Zapp with a rescue.
On Wong's porch, Kif still feels bad because Amy's family still does not like him, and he replies that if they like him he will not like it. They kissed as they raided the buggalo and shook the ground, and Kif wrote in his diary that he "just had sex for the second time".
