A prison bead ring ( CBR ), ball closing ring ( BCR b>, or captive ball ring is a typical example of body piercing jewelry.
The bead or ball holders fit into small holes in the ring circle. The beads are slightly larger than this opening and have small bends or hollows that fit the ends of the ring so that it may fit them, thus completing the ring sequence. Often, holes are drilled through the beads for easy installation.
It uses a tensile strength or natural press of a metal made of a ring, usually surgical steel, niobium, or titanium, to hold the bead firmly in its place. The beads or balls themselves can be made of colored glass, acrylic or ceramic, or gemstones.
This is a popular body jewelry because it easily allows the wearer to take off the ring by simply removing the captive bead, the bead is held firmly in place so it will not easily fall out. In addition, because of its closed shape and rounded edges, these rings are not easily stuck on clothing, hair, or furniture, making it a popular choice for healing piercings. However, its circular shape means that it can draw dry sap back to the healing piercing, which means the barbell looks better for certain healing piercings.
