Bed Bath & amp; Beyond Inc. is a chain of American domestic merchandise stores in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. Founded in 1971, shops sell home items mainly for bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a kitchen and dining room. The company is included in the S & P 400 and Global 1200 Index. In 1971, Warren Eisenberg and Leonard Feinstein opened a store in Springfield, New Jersey called Bed 'n Bath . In 1985, Eisenberg and Feinstein operated 17 stores in the metropolitan areas of New York and California. Also in 1985, the first superstore opened, in an effort to stay competitive with 'n Things, Pacific Linen, Linens and Luxury Linens. To truly represent an increase in size in its retail stores, the company changed its name to Bed Bath & amp; Outside.
