Histori

The company was founded in 2005 by Geoff Notkin of the science television series Meteorite Men. "Aerolite" is an ancient term for "meteorites" and usually refers to rocky meteorites. Aerolite offers a wide range of products, from entry-level to museum quality specimens.

Aerolite Meteorite is exhibited annually in Tucson Gem & amp; Mineral and Exhibition Show Minerals, Fossils, Gems, and Jewelry from Denver Coliseum. In 2018, Aerolite Meteorit partnered with Dinosaur Brokers, based in Woodland Park, Colorado, to bring the 40-foot (12 m) Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, almost complete to the 22nd Mineral and Fossil Mineral in Tucson, Arizona, where exhibited to the public for about three weeks.

Important acquisitions

Aerolite Meteorites have acquired many newly discovered meteorites, such as El Tiro and El Boludo. They also acquired Northwest Africa 11174, discovered in 2010, from a dealer in Erfoud, Morocco.

Aerolite Meteorite also exclusively stores Old Camp Wash, La Cienega, discovered by Greg Bruce, the same inventor who invented El Boludo, Tank Mountains, Northwest Africa 11081, and Northwest Africa 10256.

The Aerolite Meteorite collection also includes several historical pieces from the Harvey H. Nininger meteorite pioneer.

Community outreach

Aerolite Meteorite provides specimens for major meteorite agencies, such as the American Museum of Natural History in New York, the British Museum of Natural History in London, the Vienna Natural History Museum, and the Center for Meteorite Studies, among others.

Aerolite Meteorite is also a longtime supporter of Beads of Courage, a resistance-based discovery program designed to support children addressing serious illnesses and their families. Through this program, children tell their stories using beads as a symbol of courage that commemorates milestones achieved along their path of treatment. In 2018, Aerolite Meteorites donate authentic moon dust embedded into special beads designed and manufactured by bead artist Jeannie Cox. CEO Geoff Notkin has also been the Beads of Courage Celebrity Ambassador since 2012.

Aerolite Meteorites is also an official sponsor of the Rally for Science Tucson and a supporter of Girls Taking Up Space, a program that raises funds to foster the interest of Native American girls in STEM-related areas by sending them to Space Camp in Space & US.
