The Pine Street School is a historic school on 13 Pine Street in Northfield, Massachusetts. The school was built in 1904, and represents a well-preserved specimen of a school building early in the 20th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
Designed by Westfield architect Augustus W. Holton in 1903, this building is 1 1 / 2 -story Structure The Colonial Awakening, built to replace a smaller, crowded schoolhouse in poor condition. On the first floor has a large front room, with hanging hooks for student coats. The door leads to two equally sized classrooms that still have original electrical equipment, wooden bead-board wainscoting, and plaster walls. The staircase from the hall leads to a larger third class room. The building was used as a schoolhouse from its construction until 1940, when a fire destroyed the City School Center. The city then consolidates the base value in the newly built School Center building. The Pine Street school building has served as a city museum since 1943.
