The Care Bears are groups of multi-colored bear characters. Original artwork painted by artist Claire Russell for American Greetings in 1981 for use on greeting cards; but the characters were later used for toys, and on TV programs and movies.
Its initial development was through the American "Greeting Of Cleveland" research and development division, In 1983, Kenner turned Care Bears into a luxury teddy bear. The Care Bears appeared on TV specials called The Care Bears in the Land Without Feelings (1983) and The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine (1984). They later had a television series from 1985 to 1988, and three widescreen films: The Care Bears Movie (1985), Bear Care Film II: The New Generation (1986) and < i> The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland (1987).
Each Care Bear has a different color and has a special symbol on its stomach that represents its personality. Film Care Bears: Oopsy Does It! named them "belly badges". Adding a Care Bear family is "Care Bear Cousins", featuring a lion, rabbit, penguin, raccoon, monkey, elephant, pig, dog, cat and other animals created in the same style as a teddy bear.
In 2002, the bears were reintroduced with new toys. Made by Play-Along Toys, this new toy offers features such as a stomach that lights up to the touch, aerobic bears, and a bear that glows in the dark. As part of this comeback, Bears has appeared in two computer animated films: Bears Care: Journey-a-lot (2004) The Big Bears Movie (2004) 2005) and The Care Bears' Rise Up Of Kingdom (2006). In 2007, the franchise celebrated its 25th anniversary; another relaunch took place, as well as the release of Care Bears: Oopsy Does It! .
In mid-2011, American Greetings announced a new animated TV series titled Be Care: Welcome to Care-a-Lot. The premiere of this series uses "30 years of concern". It airs on The Hub on June 2, 2012. Although Welcome to Care-a-Lot lasts for a season, the continuation of the series, "Care Bears and Cousins," commissioned by Netflix and premiered on November 6, 2015. Histori
Development
The Care Bears was originally created in 1981 by The Characters From Cleveland (TCFC), a licensed division of American Greetings. Jack Chojnacki, co-president of TCFC, introduced the first Care Bear, to six entrepreneurs - three from America's Greeting Cards, and three from Kenner toys - in February 1981. For employees' reaction to toys, Chojnacki recalled in early 1985: "That has a high aaaaaah factor. "
Muriel Fahrion, the artist who helped create the look of Strawberry Shortcake, is also one of the first franchise artists concept. Working with TCFC Creative VP Ralph Shaffer, Muriel designed the first six bears, creating a top-selling greeting card theme for their stomach graphics. Susan Trentel, sister and puppet designer Muriel from Strawberry Shortcake, designed Luxury Care Bears. After leaving the stage of illustrator children's book concept Elena Kucharik became the main artist for Care Bears creating hundreds of colorful illustrations for cards, books and a myriad of licensed products. The creative team of TCFC artists and writers works to create many characters in the lineup, which is a joint development by Their People from Cleveland and MAD (Marketing and Design Services of the General Mills toy group).
As they had done with Strawberry Shortcake, once called "Project I," the American Greeting Cards called Bear Care Development "Project II" as they attempted to create a secret character program until ads were ready. At the beginning of the franchise, Care Bears is already assigned as the title of his work.
1982 launch
On September 24, 1982, the Care Bears franchise was launched in New York City before members of the Society of Security Analysts in the region. Attending the event were American Greetings President, Morry Weiss, and two employees of their Character-Character from Cleveland: Jack Chojnacki and senior vice president Henry Lowenthal. Finally, the characters were announced as toys for production by Parker Brothers and Kenner next spring, as well as pre-licensed characters and media stars. At that time, Greetings America was mentioned as their debut "launch of the greatest character in retail history". With an advertising budget of US $ 5-6 million and a wholesale commitment worth US $ 122.5 million, American Greetings introduced the character to the general public in February 1983, with an appearance at the New York City Toys Exhibition; 26 licensees are involved at launch. Among them is General Mills, a food company that owns game board maker Parker Brothers. In early 1983, Parker Brothers released six books featuring Care Bears as part of its first publishing division bid. On television, the original Ten Bears starred in their first syndication special, Atkinson Film-Arts' The Care Bears in the Land without Feelings ; Kenner generates and sponsors him.
In December 1983, American Greetings and CPG Products lost a lawsuit against Easter Limited, an importer of a line known as "Bear Message". According to New York City judge Leonard B. Sand, the toys did not have the "heart-shaped" sign label "used to identify the Bear Bears.
In 1984, AGC introduced a spin-off line, Care Bear Cousins; other syndicated specials, The Care Bears Battle the Freeze Machine , came out in the same year. A toys based miniseries is distributed by Lexington Broadcast Services Company. A year later, Bears and Cousins ââstarred in their first movie, The Care Bears Movie , produced by Nelvana Limited and released by The Samuel Goldwyn Company. It became the most successful animated film created outside the Disney market at the time of its release. Later that fall, DIC Entertainment released an 11-episode television series in syndication.
In 1986, Nelvana returned to the franchise with the second film, Care Bears Movie II: The New Generation. Released by Columbia Pictures, the film features a new villain, Dark Heart, and introduces more about Care. Bears and Care Bears Cousins: Harmony Bear, True Heart Bear, and Noble Heart Horse.
Later that year, the TV series titled The Care Bears Family (also from Nelvana) aired on ABC US and Global Canada networks. Lasting for two seasons and consisting of over 70 episodes, it introduces the wicked witch No Heart and his Beastly sidekick. In the second season, No Heart's niece, Shreeky was introduced.
The third movie Care Bears, The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland, debuted in 1987. A special TV, Care Bears Nutcracker Suite, aired on the Disney Channel in 1988.
Over 40 million Bear Treatments were sold between 1983 and 1987, and American Greetings scored more than 70 million of their cards over a decade. Overall, their merchandise sales totaled more than $ 2 billion during the 1980s.
1991 launches again
In early 1991, Character-Characters from Cleveland and Kenner started a franchise re-launch, involving seven bears. One of Care Bear Cousins, Proud Heart Cat, is released as a bear with white fur wearing a heart-shaped emblem of the American flag. Random House publishing company released two tie-in books: The Care Bears and the Big Cleanup (1991) by Bobbi Katz, and The Care Bears and the Whale Tale (1992) ) by Peggy Kahn.
2002 relaunch
In 1999, the rights to the Care Bears franchise were purchased by Jay Foreman, president of Play Along Toys based in Fort Lauderdale, with less than $ 1 million; He also plans to acquire fellow American property, Strawberry Shortcake. Three years later, Kenton Avery Frederick American Greetings launched the Care Bear brand as part of the Bears' 20th anniversary celebration with a series of toys and feature films. The artwork and design of bears were changed to be relaunched. Also, the color of the Bear Champ changes from tan to true blue, with its stomach symbol transformed to a winning cup with a star, and the Bear Bear's stomach symbol is changed from a milkshake with two straws into two crossed lollipops. The change in the Share Bear symbol comes from Play Along Toys suggestions about changes on the grounds that sharing milkshakes can spread germs. In addition, many other minor changes are made to the design, mostly involving lightening the bear's color and minor re-design to the stomach symbol.
In the midst of this awakening, Play Along releases new toys based on the newly redesigned Bears, sold in stores like Wal-Mart, Kmart, Toys "R" Us, Target, KB Toys, and Mervyns. New merchandise including Bears performing aerobics; Tenderheart Bear as patient (casting children playing with toys as doctors); Champ Bear as a fireman; and Care Bears itself as Cubs. More than 70 million 13-inch (330mm) luxury bears have been sold since relaunch. In addition, Lionsgate Home Entertainment and its subsidiaries FHE Pictures, in collaboration with Nelvana, have made two computer animated movies directly to DVD, Bear Be Care: Joke-a-lot trip in 2004 and New versions of various cousins ââare produced (with a heart proudly converted back into a cat, with different colors and symbols similar to the one he had in the 1980s franchise). Two of the Cousins, the Treat Heart Pig and Noble Heart Horse, were never produced as a 13-inch plush in the 2000s, and Cousins ââdid not relaunch in 2007 the franchise relaunch. 2007 relaunch
In 2007, American Greetings re-launched Care Bears, first with a series of dolls, then a new movie, Care Bears: Oopsy Does It! and immediately before the new TV series Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-lot . Animations and artwork are completely different from the original ones that give the Care Bears a smaller body structure and a redesigned abdominal symbol, now called a belly badge. Also, instead of Nelvana, movies and animated series produced by SD Entertainment.
As part of the franchise's 25th anniversary celebrations, the Bears were redesigned by the US Securities Depository illustration team, such as the franchise logo. The line consists of fifteen of the thirty-nine bears (as seen in Care Bears: Oopsy Does It!). Five of the bears were chosen to be the focus of the franchise: Oopsy Bear, Cheer Bear, Funshine Bear, Grumpy Bear and Share Bear. Other Bears include Wish Bear, True Heart Bear, Bedtime Bear, Bear Tenderheart, Love-a-lot Bear, Bear Harmony, Amigo Bear, Bear Surprise, Bear Superstar, Your Best Bear, Best Friend Bear, Play-A-Lot Bear, Heartsong Bear, Good Luck Bear, and Hopeful Heart Bear, although the remaining 24 bears are also declared to have a release in the near future according to Play Along Toys.
Their new theme song is performed by former Letters to Cleo member Kay Hanley, and her music video goes live on Fox and Nickelodeon. In August 2007, they appeared in the movie Be Care: Oopsy Does It! . This was followed by a television series from SD Entertainment, Adventures in Care-a-lot . The series aired on CBS 'block KEWLopolis on September 15, 2007.
The Bear Care Franchise is restarted at the 2007 launch. Previous plot devices such as Cloudmobiles, Caring Meters, Cloud Keepers, and even the Care-a-lot castle are not referred to or mentioned in the new series. Instead it is a gathering tree, which the Care Bears now gather to meet or hold a celebration. Also, Bear Treatments, to the first direct-to-DVD release point for the new franchise ( Grizzle-ly Adventures), never visited Care-a-lot people, and new villains named Grizzle (who tried to conquer Care-a-lot and nothing else) was introduced. An article in February 2007 in The Wall Street Journal states that in the new version, "they live in a village, centered on a large tree, without a visible castle".
However, the Carer Meter made his return on the Grizzle-y Adventures , and the second straight-to-DVD release of the franchise, Ups and Downs , including passing comments on the Feelings Forest. In addition, the Care-a-lot castle reappears in certain scenes in the new game for V.Smile Baby Infant Development System, Play Day .
On July 23, 2008, American Greetings announced that Care Bears (along with Strawberry Shortcake ) will be sold to Cookie Jar Entertainment in an acquisition that will take place on September 30, 2008. In April 2009, it was announced that Cookie Jar Entertainment has a problem in financing the acquisition and that the French company named MoonScoop has also expressed interest in the franchise. The deadline for the Cookie Jar acquisition is April 30, and MoonScoop's attempt on June 7. In mid-August 2009, MoonScoop sued Salam from America, claiming that it was withdrawing from the proposed $ 95 million deal; AGC and Cookie Jar sued each other in the process as well. At the end of April 2010, the Cleveland company "won a summary appraisal on the MoonScoop SAS contract", as well as the "estoppel promissory claim" in the case; MoonScoop appealed the following month. At the end of November 2012, the US District Court in Cleveland decided to support American Greetings over MoonScoop.
At the end of 2009, American Greetings announced that Care Bears would be re-imagined with the launch of a new series, "Care Power Team". It envisages re-using the Adventures in Care-a-lot design, has a sport of bears "raising a belly badge," and seeing the bear pick up on an emergency. Soon after that, a new movie trio emerged: Care Bears: Share Bear Shines, Care Bears: The Giving Festival and Care Bears: To Rescue >. In the same year, it was announced that the toy mastering rights for Care Bears had changed hands from Play Along Toys to Hasbro, in a deal that also involved Strawberry Shortcake. However, only in mid-2013, the first Bears Care Bear toy appeared. No word yet on what caused the delay.
relaunch 2012
In July 2011, the card company announced that a new television series, the first franchise in CGI, is under development. Entitled Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot , it airs on The Hub on June 2, 2012.
In December 2013, AG Properties and Mindworks Entertainment announced that they will collaborate with Sanrio to co-branding with the Little Twin Stars character franchise. The expanded launch is expected in March 2014.
In July 2014, it was announced that Hasbro had lost the right to make toys to another toy company called Just Play . It is widely thought that the reason for the change is because American Greetings became unhappy with how long Hasbro released a toy from that time earned the right to make toys.
In October 2014, when Hub changed to Discovery Family, it was revealed that the Welcome to Care-A-Lot had been canceled and there would be no further work on the event.
On January 15, 2015, it was revealed that Netflix has commissioned a new series named Care Bears and Cousins' after the Hub was canceled Welcome to Care-a-Lot . The show was originally expected to premiere in 2016, but the release was eventually pushed back to November 2015 and premiered with 6 episodes. Maps Care Bears
Character and universe â ⬠<â â¬
Franchises consist mostly of Care Bears themselves, as well as subsequent additional Care Care Cousins. Both live in the Kingdom of Caring, which consists of Care-a-lot (the home of a proper Care Bears) and Forest of Feelings (home to Care Bear Cousins). In 1989, Carole Ashkinaze of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution referred to them as "the strange, late-twentieth-century descendants of what we commonly know as guardian angels: a fuzzy, friendly, adorable creature whose mission is to guide young children and protect them from bogeymen.Run with a Care Bear like, well, run against the Easter Bunny. "
Those who accompany them are Star and Heart Buddies, who are looking for Bears and Cousins ââwhenever they are on a mission in care; and Birds, usually seen in the Forest of Feeling with Care Bear Cousins ââand watching them. The less recurring character is The Cloud Keeper, the fat man who cares for Care-a-lot. He only appeared in some early franchise publications and on DiC's TV episodes.
Ten Original Rice Treatments consist of Bedtime Bear, Birthday Bear, Bear Cheer, Friend Bear, Funshine Bear, Good Luck Bear, Grumpy Bear, Love-a-lot Bear, Tenderheart Bear, and Wish Bear. Later, additional bears joined them, as well as the Cousins.
For the new 2007 TV series,
Some elements of the Care Bears franchise pay homage to King Arthur's legend. For example, the name of the main character's residence, Care-a-lot, is a game in the legendary Camelot King Arthur's castle. The Care Bear Family sits around a heart-shaped table, similar to the Round Table used by Arthur and his knights. In addition, the name Sir Lancelot inspired that Love-a-lot Bear.
Throughout the movies and series, various criminals have tried to stop Bear and Cousin in the background on their mission. On the first two specials and the DiC television series, they fought against Professor Coldheart, his Frostbite assistant, and sometimes Frozen Aunt; in Nelvana's version, they are confronted by the No Heart Wizard, his beastly Beastly assistant and his grumpy niece, Shreeky, and small villains such as Dr. Nelvana. Fright and Sour Sam. In the movie, they compete against Nicholas and Evil Spirit in The Bears Movie, Dark Heart at Care Bears Movie II: The New Generation , The Wizard of Wonderland and his assistant Dim & amp ; Stupid in The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland , and Rat King and Evil Vizier at Magic spells
The Care Bears' ultimate weapon is "Care Bear Stare" (a.k.a. "Belly Magic"), where the collected Bears stand together and emit light from their respective abdominal symbols. It combines to form a ray of love and joy that can bring care and joy into the heart of the target. The Care Bear Stare has several different looks. One has a beam from a stomach consisting of several replicated symbol images. Other variations form a rainbow when some Bears and/or Cousins ââare involved. Yellow rays with red hearts are sometimes seen as well. The Bears: Journey-a-lot and The Bears' Big Wish Movie movies do not feature Care Bear gaze, but it's back in Oopsy Doing it! . In the new series, Care Bears Adventures in Care-a-lot, the gaze appears as a beam of light in the bear color that comes from it, but begins just by rubbing the symbol.
In the original animated specials and DiC series, Care Bear Stare is initiated by the phrase "Care Bears... be prepared to stare!" while in the Nelvana series and newer versions are initiated by the phrase "Care Bears Countdown!"
During the film and DiC series, Care Bear Cousins ââcall their weapon "Care Bear Cousin Call". In the DiC series, the call looks the same as Care Bear Stare and is often done at the same time without it being called a call. In the first film, Cousins, except for Swift Heart Rabbit, only make the sound of any animal common to their species because they have no stomach symbol; which was then awarded to them by Care Bears at the end of the film. In the second film, Calls looked like musical scores radiating from their belly symbols. At the beginning of the Nelvana series, Care Bear Cousin Call is no longer in use and Cousins ââjust doing Care Bear Stare.
Although commonly used on criminals, gazes and calls have also been used in humans and in Care Bears themselves. It is sometimes used in the DiC series to cure Bear Treatment and humans who are placed under the influence of magic no matter Professor Coldheart. It also happened once in Adventures in Care-a-lot , when it was used to entertain Grumpy while in the episode "Tell-Tale belly".
In addition to Care Bear Stare, Care Bears can also use their belly symbols to call in other help such as heart-shaped balloons, cloud cars, rainbow bridges and send distress signals.
Caring for meters
Shown clearly in most of the Bear's Care films and episodes made in the 80s, the Parenting Meter is usually located in the dead center of Care-a-lot inside the main Behind Care meeting room. This meter shows how much attention is at Care-a-lot and on Earth. In the 1980s film/cartoon, it was shown as a meter like a clock that was not numbered. In The Care Bears' Big Wish Movie , the meter is shown with raincloud side (less cares) and rainbow side (more cares). Ideally, the Milling Meter should be along the side of the rainbow. Whenever the Bears see the meter fall to the side of the raincloud, they try to prevent it getting worse by going to a "maintenance mission" to try to make more people care or bear itself doing caring acts. If the meter drops close to zero, Care-a-lot will experience disaster, such as storms, buildings and rainbows collapsed (previous films) or Care-a-lot bright colors that gradually turn black and white ( the next films). If the meter reaches all the way to zero (no concerns anywhere), then Care-a-lot will be gone forever.
Initially, no mention was made of Caring Meters at Care Bears: Oopsy Does It! and the first season Adventures in Care-a-lot . With the release of the Grizzle-y Adventures , the first direct-to-DVD franchise release, the Parenting Meter has returned, and the Care Bears have begun interacting with humans once again.
Merchandise
In addition to toys, books, greeting cards and animated media, Care Bears has also been featured in merchandising, some of which include gummy bears, party items, mobile phone covers, interior decoration sets, stationery, school supplies, stickers, clothing, accessories and lots other goods. During the early 2000s, the classic Care Bear toys were available in stores such as Carlton Card, Claire, and Spencer Gifts.
When the franchise was introduced in the 1980s, mistakes were made when producing stuffed animals that caused Bedtime Bear (blue) and Wish Bear (aqua) to swap colors. As soon as the error is found, the two bears back to the appropriate color. Later, children's stories are written explaining why the bears are changing colors.
In his 1986 essay, Brief Strategy, Tom Englehardt referred to the Bears Care doll as a "very special" toy. "So specifically [those] instead of complex individual personalities, they are nothing more than fragments of carefully written personalities," he says. "Together, they must engage in a series of specialized interventions as complex as the medical units in the real world."
Books
Many children's books have been based on, and have been featured, Care Bear and Care Bear Cousins. Some early publications include "Meet the Care Bear Cousins" (based on the first film), "Sweet Dreams for Sally", "The Witch Down the Street", "The Trouble with Timothy", and "A Sister for Sam." All of these titles are published by the toy maker Parker Brothers, who is the license holder of the characters. Over 45 million Care Bears books were sold during the 1980s. In 2006, Scholastic Press has published books based on two of Bears' first CGI films, as well as new toys, while Modern Publishing publishes a small number of baby activities and books that feature bears for toddler markets. International publications and Penny Candy Press are also known to have published several sound books featuring bears in the past.
In Played by Rules , a 1988 book that negotiated the merger of Parker Brothers/General Mills, Ellen Wojahn writes that Parker Care Bears books (together with those based on Strawberry Shortcake's) "are in fact , a little more than the flyers illustrated for the Kenner project - and who knows [in 1984] how long will these people remain popular? "
Comics
Between November 1985 and January 1989, Care Bears appeared in the 20th edition of comic books published by Marvel's Star Comics; the books were drawn by the DC Comics artist, Howard Post. The November 13, 1986 issue featured a crossover with another American Salam property, Madballs.
During the same period, in the UK, Care Bears also appeared in comic book series published by Marvel UK with artwork by Mario Capaldi. The periodic comics are then bundled into annual Care Bear Annual books. Some of these English comic books also have stories and art from the US comic series.
Music
At the peak of the 80's Bear bear craze, Kid Stuff Records released several records based on the franchise. These include "Introducing Bear Bearing", "Care Bear Care for You", "Adventure in Care-a-many", "Bear Birthday Treatment Party", and "The Care Bears' Christmas" (all from 1983), and 1986 "Friends Make Everything Better" (released as a promotion with Trianimic). They released the soundtrack album for the first two films. Albums based on toys are the best sellers in children's music during their heyday.
All albums from 1983 (except for "Birthday Party") featured writings, productions and performance credits from Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan (who is the lead singer of The Turtles, also known as Flo & amp; Eddie; former Mothers of Invention from the 1970s -1972 Frank Zappa). The soundtrack album of The Care Bears Movie features songs by Carole King and John Sebastian, who sang leads for The Lovin 'Spoonful.
In the midst of the revival of 2002, Madacy Kids released a new CD Bear Bear. In 2004, Meets Care Bear ,
The covers of both Care Bears Holiday Hugs and Care Bears Nighty-Night advertised two other CDs, called Care Bears Share A Smile and Care Bears, Let's Be Friends, Starting April 2008, Both Sharing A Smile and Let's Be Friends have been folded into one album and released as digital downloads from www.Amazon.com and www.Walmart.com, but on this date not available as a physical CD. This has caused some difficulties for international fans because Amazon.com and Walmart.com will not sell digital downloads to fans living outside of North America.
Music videos
Approximately 50 seconds into the music video for the single breakout of the Swedish rock band The Cardigans' sixth studio album Super Extra Gravity , there is a Short Appearance of "I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need Be Be Nicer" Bedtime Bear. She is shown again for the last time in the 76th minute, lying in bed by the dog shown.
Video game
Game Care Bears was planned for the Atari 2600 in 1983. It was completed and ready for beta testing, but the project was canceled before testing could begin. The beta prototype then disappears in obscurity and the only prototype that exists today is the early alpha of this game. No other game featured a bear ever created during that period.
In 2004, Bears starred in their first official game, Care-a-lot Jamboree for PC. A few months later, another game featuring Care Bears for PC, Let's Have a Ball! released. That same year they were featured on Care Bears: A Lesson in Caring for V.Smile educational game consoles.
In 2005, they appeared on Catch a Star (also for PC) and Care Bears: Care Quest (for Game Boy Advance).
Like the movie, no games for any system were produced in 2006, and no new games were released on time for the 2007 launch. However, in August 2008, a new game, Care Bears Play Day >, released for V.Smile Baby Infant Development System, finally broke the silence for two years for the franchise in front of the game.
they, Care Bears Share-A-Story , was introduced by Play Along in July 2005. The toy is based on the same basic idea of ââTeddy Ruxpin. The head, mouth, and eyes of Care Bear move around like a fairy tale playing valley like Goldilocks and Three Care Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk and Three Little Pigs. The hardcover book version of the story comes with it so that parents and children can read together when the story is played. Ship toys with stories of Goldilocks and the Three Bears , and additional story cartridges and books should be purchased separately. Also, it turns out only Bear Share ever made like a toy.
In addition, Care Bears Sing-along False is also introduced. The Bear Toys This treatment sings three different songs while their heads sway back and forth and can synchronize wirelessly with other Bears Care series of series to sing together in groups (effective wireless range is three feet, though the range may worsen due to environmental conditions and strength battery remaining). Although originally introduced in various designs, currently only Bear, Cheer Bear and Funshine Bear models are still made, with the physical appearance of redesigned bears to match the 25th anniversary look.
Another Care Bear smart toy is the Smart Check-up Tenderheart Care Bears. The toy comes with an interactive plush teddy bear and a variety of medical toy equipment. Interactive luxury goods have soft touch points throughout the body and can be fully played without any medical equipment toys.
Finally, there is a line of Care Bears smart toys that will play hide and seek with the owner. The line, called Hide 'N Seek Care Bears , comes in two designs: The Secret of the Bear and the Bear's Surprise. Both are equipped with a wireless handpiece. To play a toy, a third party, usually a parent, must participate in the game by hiding the bear. The boy then had to find the bear, with the handpiece sometimes giving a clue as to how close the boy was with the bear through the audible instructions.
