Orbitz: The 90's Coolest Drink - YouTube
src: i.ytimg.com

Orbitz is the product name of a non-carbonated fruit flavored drink, made by The Clearly Food & amp; Canadian Beverage Company, Canadian Clear Maker. It was introduced in 1997 and quickly disappeared due to poor sales. Made with a small, edible ball, it is marketed as a "textually refined alternative drink" but some consumers compare it to portable lava lamps.

Small balls float because their density is almost the same as the fluid around it, and remains suspended with the help of a material known as gellan candy. Gellan Gum provides a supportive matrix - something like a microscopic spider web - and has a close visual clarity of water, which increases with the addition of sugar.

The website of the product was purchased by an Internet-based travel agency called Orbitz.

An unopened bottle has become a collector's item, appearing on an online auction site. In July 2013, Clearly Canada stated that they are considering producing a limited new product to meet "nostalgic demand", with possible subsequent annual problems based on consumer acceptance from the initial batch. In 2015 Orbitz is launched and available in the US.

The flavors on introduction are Raspberry Citrus, Blueberry Melon Strawberry, Pineapple Banana Cherry Coconut, Vanilla Orange, and the company then adds Black Currant Berry.
